Who We Are
Pinnacle View UMC’s mission is to be a bold, inclusive community committed to growing together as Christ calls us to renewed life, peace with all, and service that creates a world transformed by God’s love.
Originally founded in 1868 as Spring Street Church in Downtown Little Rock…
Pinnacle View has expanded many times, first in 1889 with the construction of a new sanctuary, Winfield Chapel, in honor of prominent Arkansan and revered Methodist preacher, Augustus Roberts Winfield, D.D. The church grew exponentially over the next decades, and a new, larger building was built on 16th and Louisiana. This location grew to be one of the largest churches in Arkansas!
In the 1980s, the church was granted a large plot of land near the base of Pinnacle Mountain. Construction was completed in 1988, and the Winfield Congregation moved west, combining with the Mountain View UMC congregation already in the area.
Our 150th Anniversary in 2019 was marked by a year of self-reflection! We became Pinnacle View UMC and rethought how we “do church” in this exciting era of mobility and advanced technology, including becoming an open, welcoming, and affirming community for our Little Rock neighbors!
